Welcome Friends & NeighborsOne of my favorite quotes from Paul Wellstone goes something like this -- There are two kinds of people who run for office. Those who want to do something, and those who want to be somebody.
I am running for re-election because I want to accomplish things that matter to you, and I would like to share with you just a few: I want all of us to be able to participate in democracy and self-government. Minnesota is recognized for its high voter turnout and participation, and together we must push back against efforts to weaken access to registration and to make it more cumbersome to vote. I want every Minnesotan to have access to health care that includes every medically necessary diagnosis and treatment without fear of financial hardship. I want all of us to have equal opportunity in education, to pursue job opportunities that allow us to be productive citizens, and to live in safe, affordable neighborhoods and homes. I want to work to move past the wedge issues that have divided us and focus on positive changes for all Minnesotans. As an incumbent, I know that legislative effectiveness is most affected by majority rule, seniority of service, and values shared with the people I represent. I want to reach out to underrepresented groups and our future leaders. Best, Jim |
