Thanks to your support of Democratic initiatives, the Minnesota economy is attracting new businesses and jobs. Minnesota was recently ranked eighth in the “Forbes 2013 List of the Best States for Business“. According to the state figures, Minnesota has added 13,400 jobs since August and more than 122,000 since 2011.
This growth in our economy means a projected $1 billion surplus in state budget. First, this surplus will be used to pay back the remaining $240 million (of the original $2.8 billion) owed to schools.
The projected surplus also comes from better ways of doing government. Projected spending is down $247 million.
All this is great news for Minnesotans. I am delighted with the support I received from the District during the legislative session. The many discussions and calls and letters are heartwarming.
Thank you to all!
